Why Sight Loss Sunday?
PUBLISHED - 27th August 2025
Why should a Church sign up?
Sight Loss Sunday 2025 asks the question ‘Who does God call?’ inviting the Church to consider how God is calling each of us to use the gifts and skills he has given us and particularly celebrating that call on those with Sight Loss. Marking Sight Loss Sunday in Church is a great way to explore this important topic with free resources to help to do this in an accessible way. These aim to encourage more people to come along and get involved in serving in different areas of Church life. You can use these resources to mark Sight Loss Sunday on 12th October or on any other day of the year.
Summary of Phil’s talk
Church of England Vicar, the Revd Phil Bryson, uses 1 Corinthians 12:4-26 to encourage us that every member of God’s family has a calling and role to play in their Church family, and reminds us that sight loss is not a barrier to Christian leadership.
Why do we have all age resources?
In scripture, we see how God calls people at all different stages of life. From the call of Mary in her youth to Noah in his later years, God uses all people in his plans and purposes. Our intergenerational resources are available to introduce the themes of calling and accessible welcome to people of all ages – to encourage them that God equips and calls everyone he has made. The intergenerational service can be used either as a full service or by choosing parts to integrate into a regular service. If you are using the service in a congregation which includes those with sight loss, please do mention our ‘Hope for all’ lamb Bible project for children with sight loss and our Pathway Bible players for adults with sight loss.
