Looking Ahead: Our Strategy for 2026-30

        PUBLISHED - 2nd November 2026

CEO Sarah Dawkins shares where Torch is headed in the next few years…

Over the past year, we’ve been seeking God’s direction for the future of Torch. Through conversations with blind and partially sighted people, alongside prayerful reflection by our staff, leadership team and trustees, we’ve developed a new strategy that will guide our work over the next four years.

Our strategy isn’t about changing who we are. It’s about prayerfully discerning where God is calling us to focus our efforts so that more blind and partially sighted people can encounter Jesus.

Our mission hasn’t changed. Torch exists to enable blind and partially sighted people to encounter Jesus, grow in their Christian faith and thrive in Christian community. That calling remains as clear today as it has ever been.

In recent years, Torch’s work has been guided by four strategic principles: Support, Encounter, Belonging and Growth. These have emerged from decades of ministry and continue to shape everything we do.

As we’ve reflected on our work, we’ve recognised that much of our ministry has centred on supporting Christians with sight loss. While that remains a vital part of our calling, we’ve also become increasingly aware of the many blind and partially sighted people who have never had the opportunity to encounter Jesus in the first place.

Too often, people face barriers to exploring the Christian faith. Accessible resources may not be available, churches may not yet be equipped to include people with sight loss, or no one has shared the good news in a way that is accessible. Before someone can grow in their faith or experience the support and belonging of Christian community, they first need the opportunity to encounter Jesus.

That’s why our new strategy places a renewed emphasis on Encounter. This isn’t a change in our mission or a move away from the work you’ve supported so faithfully over many years. Rather, it’s a sharpening of our focus. We’ll be looking for every opportunity to help more blind and partially sighted people encounter Jesus and take the next step on their journey of faith.

We’re excited by the opportunity to reach people who may never otherwise have had the chance to hear the good news in a way that’s accessible to them. Thank you for being part of this exciting journey. This is a mission we share, and we’re so grateful for the part you play through your prayers, generosity and encouragement. Together, we can help ensure that sight loss is never a barrier to encountering the life changing hope of Jesus Christ.
