The Right to Read Alliance

The same book, at the same time, at the same price

Why shouldn’t people with sight loss be able to borrow or buy books as easily, as cheaply and with as much choice as everyone else?

Torch Trust is one of 18 members of The Right to Read Alliance which campaigns for these rights.

Less than five per cent of published books are produced in accessible formats (braille, giant print, audio) suitable for blind and partially sighted people, or people with dyslexia or similar disabilities. And many of the titles in this limited range cost more than the standard price.

The Torch Trust is passionate about giving blind and partially sighted people access to the Christian literature they need to find faith, grow in their Christian lives, develop their gifts and participate fully in church life. Each year Torch works with Christian publishers to produce a key new title in accessible media simultaneously with the launch of the print edition.
