Christian literature, fellowship and personal support for blind and partially sighted people |
|
THE TORCH TRUST FOR THE BLIND is a Christian organisation with a worldwide vision for blind and partially sighted people. The Torch Trust produces Christian literature in formats that blind and partially sighted people can read, promotes Christian fellowship with and among blind and partially sighted people and responds to the unmet personal support needs of those whom we serve with literature and fellowship. Torch is based in the UK but operates internationally, especially in Eastern Europe and Africa. DAILY BIBLE READINGDo not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord Prov. 23:17 PRAYER DIARYPray for the librarians as they have telephone contact with the readers.
The aim of the Torch Trust is to overcome sight loss as a barrier to finding a personal faith in Christ and living a fulfilled Christian life. Torch Fellowship Groups meet at 130 locations across the UK. Search our downloadable directory to find the one nearest you. Torch runs holidays, houseparties and retreats especially for blind and partially sighted people at the Torch Holiday & Retreat Centre in Sussex and elsewhere. Torch produces Christian literature in audio, braille, giant print and electronic formats, including: Bibles, Bible portions, Daily Bible Readings, Scripture Text Calendars, Hymn/song books, booklets, books, tactile greetings cards and 6 magazine titles. The Torch Library (see the Literature page) is a free postal service giving blind and partially sighted readers access to over 3000 Christian titles in a mix of audio cassette, DAISY disc, braille and giant print. Much of what we do is offered free of charge to blind and partially sighted people who meet generally accepted criteria. Click here for details. Where we make a charge it is to defray costs. We believe visually impaired people should not be expected to pay substantially more for reading materials than sighted people do, although costs of accessible format literature is often much higher than standard print. CONTACT US for more information, to receive regular news and prayer pointers, to volunteer your help or make a donation - also, to get free literature for a visually impaired person or to link someone with a local Torch Fellowship Group. |
