Regional News

The sun shone and the conversation flowed - as did the tea - and we also enjoyed a copious amount of food, generously provided by the Chichester Torch Fellowship Group at a Regional Encouragement Day last month. We had folk from Littlehampton, Worthing, Bognor Regis and Chichester. We also had with us Paul Arnold, Regional Coordinator for North Hants/Wiltshire plus Kevin Jemmett from Torch HRC. We had an excellent day worshipping and sharing together.

International News

Harlord is a boy aged 19 years living in Malawi and he is short sighted. He writes "I thank God for the [Torch] mobile library and the people involved in it. When I finished school I had nothing to do at home and no friends. It's not always easy to find a friend in my village. If anything I need to travel to visit school friends. This isn't always possible for it needs having some money for transport. Now having the books from the library at my doorstep has really brought me life. The books I have so far read have really moved me up and I now have a clearer understanding of spiritual life. Reading from these books makes me closer to the Lord. Yes, reading is now taking away my loneliness from me. I thank God for these books. If so, praise be! if not, it is still praise be!"

Literature News

It was a difficult task as we only received details of the songs one and a half hours before the doors opened but they were greatly appreciated, with the large print version much in demand. In recognition of this work Torch was granted a prominent slot for a promotional stand within the main tent.

Torch House News

We have welcomed Tony Hill as an additional member of the IT team at Torch House. He was previously with Gideons International and will help us maintain our existing computer hardware and software systems. This should enable Paul Wood (Technical Services Leader) to concentrate on developing new systems as part of our 5 year strategy.

Holidays News

We received a letter recently from a French man called Etienne Metz who stayed at Torch HRC with his daughter Jeanne during the Lazy Days of Summer houseparty. The week was anything but summery and yet he wrote ... "Here the weather is warmer than in England. But in England, I enjoyed your friendship. That is the most important thing for me. As I told you, God willing, I will come back to visit two years from now if possible. I pray often for Torch because your work for the Lord is wonderful ..."
