Regional News

The new-look Group in Llandudno, meeting at the Action for Blind People hotel, went very well on Sunday afternoon 18th September. With five holidaymakers being in attendance the number of visually impaired guests increased to nine. This was a real answer to prayer as it was a sunny afternoon and they might easily have chosen to go out and walk along the prom! Of these five holidaymakers, three had heard of Torch - one used to go to the Coventry TFG and another knew that a group had met at their previous church in Southampton. The hotel was very accommodating and welcoming.

International News

Michael Stafford tells us that 173 volumes of braille and giant print Bibles in Chichewa and Tumbuka were distributed from Torch Trust International at Blantyre in Malawi during September.

Janet Stafford reports from Malawi the overnight convention at Konzere "was a truly blessed time". She continues, "Over 4,000 folk and more than 100 blind people attended. It was wonderful seeing blind people being treated as equals by their sighted brethren. Hundreds responded to the teaching and moved to a closer walk with Christ. Many inspiring testimonies were given and it was humbling to see the spiritual development of folk. Praise God!"

Literature News

Four people from Torch had the joy of being present at Braille21, a worldwide conference, from 27th to 30th September in Leipzig covering all aspects of braille. It was heartening from other delegates to see the concern that braille should be affordable in all countries. Pray that good results will come for the Torch family worldwide.

Torch Thanksgiving: Celebration of Accessible Bibles

Gordon Temple, Torch's Chief Executive, reports "About 300 were present on 22nd October at St Martin-in-the-Fields, Trafalgar Square, London and we give thanks to God. It was the best late October morning you could imagine and the programme flowed beautifully with great contributions from every participant." Next year's Torch thanksgiving service will be held in Leeds on Saturday 27th October.

Holidays News

A fantastic weekend was enjoyed at the first Moving Forward holiday in October, which was designed for those who are new to the sight loss journey. One gentleman had just been registered four days before the weekend so was still adjusting to the shock. Gail Millar, Torch Holidays Leader, reports, "We had a balance of friendship building, fun, informative workshops, out and about exercises, group time, devotional time and lots of eating time. The weekend was really appreciated!"
