REGIONAL

Torch had a wonderful opportunity just prior to Easter to work in partnership with RNIB as part of their telephone discussion groups called Talk and Support. RNIB invited us to host a group as a one off called the Joy of Easter which Iain Lackie our Scottish Chairman facilitated. He writes: 'It was also a wonderful opportunity to share the wonder of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.'

INTERNATIONAL

The following is part of an extract Janet recently wrote from Malawi: 'The Easter conference was a tremendous time, which went from Friday until Monday. From the registrations we were over 5000 and the Jesus film on the Sunday evening drew another crowd from the village. The session on Friday evening saw God moving in great power and the tone of the weekend was set. Saturday we had two teaching sessions and a meditation round the cross in the evening. On Sunday a baptism service began at 5.45am when we witnessed the baptism of 138 people. The service lasted for nearly three hours during which time we sang and danced throughout! Late afternoon we had a communion service, which took us to half past seven. The evening was sealed off with the Jesus film in Chichewa - finishing at 1.30am.' Praise God for a wonderful few days!

LITERATURE

For the first time at any major event, Torch produced braille and giant print handouts 'live' each day for the Spring Harvest 'Big Top' celebrations on-site at Skegness - to enable guests with sight loss to participate fully. One such guest, Ken, with the braille handout provided by Torch declared, 'I'm part of it now ... I've been able to join with everyone else. It's been absolutely fantastic'.

TORCH HOUSE NEWS

We are delighted to announce the safe arrival of Sofia Grace to proud parents Susana and Paul Wood. Despite arriving 12 days early Sofia weighed in at a very respectable six pounds three ounces. We send our love and good wishes to the Wood family who are currently in Spain with Susana's family.

N B Do remember to join us for our Day of Prayer on Wed June 8th.

HOLIDAY NEWS

The Easter houseparty was greatly enjoyed by all! Doreen one of the guests at the houseparty for the first time, declared that after many years of simply affirming the Easter message, this year the significance of Easter impacted her in a very meaningful way. And Jill a wheelchair user experienced a fresh touch of God's love through the care and kindness from the team and other guests.
