Regional News

At the beginning of February a leadership team was formed in Dublin for the first Torch Fellowship Group in the Eire. Many of those present at the meeting put themselves forward to fill the positions. They have a good sized leadership team with a healthy balance between sighted and visually impaired people. They hope to launch their group before the summer. Give thanks for this enthusiasm and pray that it continues.

Torch Strategy - We are also delighted that Lynne McCurry, based in Scotland, is working for Torch on a short-term basis to do some research as we develop our five year strategy.

International News

Janet Stafford, International Outreach Leader, is part way through a series of deputation meetings that takes her to Northern Ireland, the South West, the North West, the New Forest, Wirral and Leicestershire. Pray for increasing prayer and practical support for our international ministry. Michael Stafford will be in Malawi from 22nd March to 21st April and Janet from 31st March to 31st May. Pray for safety in travel and an effective ministry at Torch House, Blantyre and visiting Torch Fellowship Groups. Michael will be at the Torch Malawi Trustees meeting during his visit.

Literature News

Torch Trust is supporting BibleFresh, the initiative launched by the Evangelical Alliance to raise the profile of the Bible. In this connection, we are holding our own Bible event in Market Harborough – a public reading of two of the Gospels in braille on Maundy Thursday, April 21, hosted by Waterstones bookshop.

A copy of our free Easter CD Three Days that Changed the World has been sent to TFGs. Braille and giant print media are also available. Please contact Torch House for more details.

Torch House News

We've been blessed by the arrival of four new volunteers in the past few months. Edward Lam has joined the library logistics team; Jo Hogg is helping with administrative work; Lucia Bellini has started worked in braille transcription and Maria Blake is working with David Palmer on a new project.

Holidays News

We are delighted to have appointed Naomi Forse as Holiday Coordinator to strengthen our team at Torch Holiday & Retreat Centre. In addition, Kevin Jennett starts soon as part-time Centre Development Coordinator to manage bookings from churches and similar groups. Praise God that this post has partly funded by a grant from The Joseph Rank Trust.
