Earlier this month we launched two new pilot Torch Book Groups, one in Leicester and another in Peterborough, each with between 8 to 12 people. We aim to run these for a period of 6 months to establish the level of interest and demand for such Groups.
In March we also held two further Regional Encouragement Days. One in Bridlington for the East Yorkshire Groups and the other at our Torch Headquarters for the Midlands Groups. It is encouraging to learn from many Groups represented of the fresh, creative ideas that a number are employing to communicate the Gospel.
Michael Stafford is currently in Malawi and Janet joins him later this week. Do continue to pray for them and our fellow Malawians. As Britain faces upheaval and unrest with many taking to the streets to register their protest at the Government cuts spare a thought and several prayers for those in the Lower Shire Malawi. As someone once remarked about the shortage of food in the Lower Shire area 'If the people can't grow a crop or pick it from the ground then they literally have nothing.' A copy of Janet's itinerary is being forwarded to each Group.
Torch Trust is celebrating the 400th anniversary of the KJV of the Bible with our own unique event in Market Harborough on April 21 – a public reading of two of the Gospels in braille, hosted by Waterstones bookshop in the town centre. We have a team of four braille readers lined up, and sighted Torch staff will be supporting the event with a stand and giveaway items of Christian literature. Could you and the local Torch Fellowship Group – perhaps with the support of local churches - do something similar?
We are delighted to announce the safe delivery of Sophie Louise to proud parents Daniela and Leonard Campbell. Little Sophie, although two weeks early, weighed in at a very respectable 7lb 2oz.Leonard is Torch's Regional Networker in Ireland.
March sees the beginning of another busy season of holidays and house parties planned for 2011 at THRC. The first of these features creative cooking as its theme followed by a diverse range to suit different interests. It is also good to see that two Torch Fellowship Groups are booked on separate dates in May. It would be brilliant to see more!
