Torch is a Christian Mission working primarily with Christian organisations and Christian clients. This role requires that the appointed person is in close contact with our users and/or supporters who are likely to expect to be interacting with a Christian person and may be required to pray and share Christian experiences. It is therefore a requirement of Torch Trust that the person appointed is a committed Christian and able to accept the Torch Basis of Faith.
Job Title††††† † Reflections Researcher and Interviewer
Reports to††† † Rachel Dalby
Main Purpose †To assist the producer by contributing material to Reflections, a weekly 15-minute radio programme, broadcast on RNIBís Insight Radio, and on Premier Christian Radio. This will be done through researching, arranging and carrying out occasional interviews with people about their faith and disability.† This role would be a great opportunity for someone to build their experience in the Christian media sector.
o Assist with identifying, researching and developing potential programme ideas.
o Arrange interviews with guests.
o Plan the structure and questions for pre-recorded radio interviews.
o Conduct and record interviews in peopleís homes and at other locations.
o Journalistic skills, along with computer literacy.
o An aptitude for research, and the ability to
develop an interesting programme.
o A natural curiosity about, and interest in, people
and their life stories.
o Confidence in meeting new people, and being able
to sympathise if necessary.
o An ability to travel to various venues (travel costs will be reimbursed); flexibility.
o A willingness to learn how to operate basic recording equipment.
Time Frame†††††††††† It is anticipated that this role will be 1 day per month depending on timing of interviews.
