GOOD NEWS            JANUARY 2008

We thank God for the many blessings and provisions that blind people of Malawi have experienced during 2007. (Janet’s report enclosed.)

New Torch Fellowship Groups were launched in 2007 in Market Harborough, Bedford, Coventry, Nottingham and South London.

This past year we have made contact with more organisations and blind associations including Outlook Trust, PARCHE, London City Mission, Acorn Christian Foundation and Lutheran Blind Mission.

We are midway through our tour of Regional Days- travelling around  the UK meeting, sharing and envisioning the leadership teams from the different Groups. 2007 has seen us in Cambridge, Bristol, Leeds, Darlington, Southport and Chichester and Torch House. Next year we are planning trips to N Ireland, Scotland, the South West, Wales and Kent.

October saw the launch of our own radio programme called ‘Insight’ on Premier Radio hosted by Marilyn Baker .

Alongside our current network of Regional Coordinators we have added three more this year. Keith Lavender based in Gloucester covering part of the South West. Ian Wilson and Stan Lightowler assisting Cecil and Irenee Bingham in Northern Ireland.

We have recently purchased a 1 to 11 CD copier to help cope with the increasing demand for DAISY and audio CDs.

‘New Library Tasters’ for TFGs will be with Groups in the New Year. These are short extracts taken from a small range of books that are available in our libraries to encourage people in your Groups to borrow and enjoy these fantastic books.

‘What’s the Point of Christmas?’ written by evangelist J John has been a run away best seller in all media– except of course it is free!

We would like to take this opportunity of wishing you all a very happy, blessed 2008. May we all continue to look to the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” for his grace and enabling this coming year as we seek to serve him.
